Who We Are
We are a group of friends in Sheffield who love curry. Our ringleader and most obsessive lover of all things curry and spice is Ben, who you can find on Twitter if you’d like to.

Choice of Venues
We’ve listed everywhere that is within the Sheffield city local authority. We had to decide on the boundaries somehow, even though that might mean a couple of “far flung” options are present while others which might be slightly geographically closer miss out. But we said we’re looking for the best curry in Sheffield, so that’s what we’ll use as our guide!
We haven’t included any venues that are:
- Takeaway only
- Part of a larger venue (e.g. a street food vendor or market stall)
- Not open in the evening
Scoring
You’ll notice that venues are scored as “excellent”, “good”, “average” or “poor”. We use a not-so-secret formula of rating the following items out of 10 and then getting an average score. Excellent is a score of 8+, Good 7, Average 6, and Bad 5 or less:
- Atmosphere – what was the venue like to eat in?
- Service – was it fast and attentive, or slow and unhelpful?
- Variety – if we had too much choice, this gets a high score
- Spice – did the meals match expectations?
- Sundries – how were the rice, the sides, the popadoms and the dips?
- Taste – was it any good?
- Vegetarian – are there enough options for everyone?
Really the scoring is there to give us a guide when working out which of the curry houses will make it in to the top 2 for each area. The top 2 will then be pitted head to head in a last-16 tournament format. We haven’t yet decided if we’ll revisit all 16(!) or work out a top 8 from our ratings and then go from there.
